New project, ladies and gentlemen: the Child Support Clock

Remember that journalist who told us that there were 300 women on the deadbeat list and that she was sure that they would get their time.  I’ve decided to take her up on that challenge, so we’re going to do the Child Support Clock.  We are going to track the number of “deadbeat dads” vs. the number of deadbeat mothers, comparitive months in arrears (if given) and total sum and average of arrears.

Now here are the rules:

  1. Every list is going to be examined against prior lists in order to ensure that there are no duplications
  2. When a photo is not present,we will make a determination on the name.  If that can’t be done, it’s thrown out.
  3. If monetary amounts are not listed, then those names will not be counted in terms of the salery clock (either male or female).
  4. Only official “deadbeat” lists will count.

Anybody who knows of lists is free to send them, either by using the comments section or e-mailing me at pueblonative@gmail.com.

And to start this list out, Pennsylvania:  http://www.sheriffalleghenycounty.com/nonsupp.html

Number of deadbeat fathers listed: 79

Number of deadbeat mothers: 1

Will we crack three hundred before the year is out?  Stay tuned, kiddies.

Apparntly, he’s not “too sexy” for column writing

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/today/s_489746.html

As always, folks, if he replies, we repost.  And should you want to send your opinion along, the e-mail is (mseate@tribweb.com).

I know that column writing is a bastion of people with tons of opinions yet few facts to back up their lists, but could you at least try to look into this issue before you open your mouth and make an ass out of yourself.
Child support is one of the few debts that is non-forgivable in this country.  It can range from 20 to 65 percent of a persons net income, depending upon how generous the judge is feeling at the time.  Now, with a debt taking that much of your income, it’s quite easy to see how only one bad paycheck could drag you under.  How would you like to live on 35 percent of your net check?  What budget cuts could you make?  Groceries, perhaps?
People have been dragged down on child support for a number of reasons, ranging from the deliberate to the unintentional (layoffs, developing life threatening diseases) and even in those cases, the judges simply pointed to a number and said “pay or you’re going to jail”.  One particular judge, when asked how a man would feed his kids (not part of the suit) off less than half a paycheck, simply replied “have a nice day” (http://www.vvdailypress.com/news/20070113/delinquent-parents-given-chance-to-get-back-their-licenses)
Those figures that you see do not just represent child support, they represent the interest and penalties.  And if you would like, Ask Allegheny County where exactly that interest and penalty will go.  It’s not going to the child, I’ll tell you that much.
Even with the base child support figure, we’re often times talking about retroactive or imputed child support, which pretty much guarantees that you will end up being on some deadbeat list and being maligned by a fatass with more wind than substance.
One last thing; since you are warning daters about men who sleep than run, how about doing a list about serial child support collectors?  Women who are collecting child support from more than one person?  That’s as much of a danger as the man who runs and doesn’t pay.  But then again, what paper would run a headline under “Child support sluts”.

Have a nice day.

But he looked like a MATURE 3 year old at the time.

Teen boy mistakenly sent child support request

i want you to contrast that story with this one Note the difference. The story through Yahoo Australia seems to be much more apologetic for the lawyer’s behavior than the second one, which lays out exactly what these Einsteins did.
In short, they told Tyler Holden, 15, that he had two options: pay for an expensive DNA test (about $550) or admit he was the father. Both were extremely laughable because in the case above, the child in question was 12. That’s right; they were accusing him of fathering a child when Tyler was 3 years old.
The only thing more offensive than that is the reported “punishment”. According to the wauchope story:

Victorian Legal Aid managing director Tony Parsons said the incident was isolated.
“We made a mistake,” Mr Parsons told the Herald Sun.
“This went out under the hand of a junior lawyer here. He got the name from a telephone directory, contrary to his training.
“He has been counselled and has written a letter to the recipient apologising.”

Let me get this straight: he basically pulled a name from a hat and got “counseling” for an extortion attempt. If it’s retraining counseling, maybe I could get it, but it sounds like this idiot got to keep his job. Mr. Parsons, please tell me at least you made him stay after work and write “I will not accuse babies of making other babies” 500 times on the blackboard.

One person on alt.child-support made this point: Given the rise of illegal aliens in this country and identity theft, it is not all that surprising. If a person was here illegally and fathered a child, if pressured the mother (knowingly or unknowingly) could use the name and social of the father that he gave. Therefore, you could have father’s being handed default bills and garnished checks without a clue. I know that CSE always does a thorough job of checking these things out *cough*Trevino*cough*, but it could happen.
If Tyler Holden comes across this article someday, all I can say is welcome to the wonderful world of child support, where you are presumed guilty until we find the law to convict you. They don’t need proof, they don’t need tests. It is up to you to prove yourself innocent and even then, they can ignore it if they so choose. They have the children, they want the money, and you are a cash cow to them.
